We’ve spent Christmas in Virginia each year since 2006. This year, we spent a day photographing the family. Looking over the previous year’s photographs, the kids sure have grown. And, they’re much more patient this year putting up with my day-long portrait session. Here’s a few sample highlights of the day.

With the grandparents recently returning from Vietnam, they brought back a ton of Vietnamese traditional dresses. Here’s just a few of them.

A few formal shots…

And a few casual ones…

A silly one…

And the sisters…

This year, we did a quick jump to New York City for Christmas. This was a short trip to enjoy a few Broadway shows. It all started with a 4am alarm to head to the airport. We thought we had plenty of time to get to the airport and relax. Instead, we barely made it in time through airport security.

Arriving through JFK, we were happy to get early check-in at the Renaissance New York Time Square. Then, it’s off to enjoy the Times Square area. For lunch, we shared an italian sausage and roasted chestnuts. We were either very hungry from the travel or that was one amazing sausage. Maybe both.

Later that evening, we enjoyed dinner at Bobby Flay’s Bar Americain. Dai is a big fan of the Food Channel. Unfortunately, Bobby was no where to be seen that day. Fortunately, his menu rocked!

Then it was off to see Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden Theatre. Having seen the movie, I was afraid I might not enjoy it. But it was an amazing show.

Surprisingly, we frequent the nearby Saigon 48 for a few meals. It was Vietnamese/Chinese/Thai food all in one restaurant. The Pad Thai was pretty good, but the $1 Thai Ice Tea was a favorite.

We took a quick subway ride down to the Ground Zero area. There was a certain souvenir that we were looking for, one of the Wall Street Bull. I thought the following photo was neat as I caught the American flag flying by.

For our final broadway show, we saw The Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the Radio City Music Hall. Having seen the Rockettes before, we still thoroughly enjoy the show.

Our last stop before heading back home was to have dinner at Tao.

Once again, I’m sorry for the delayed post. Back in December, the Sawnee Ballet Theatre did another amazing performance of “The Nutcracker.” If you haven’t seen their performances, look for their upcoming spring concert.

To see a full gallery of their performances, click on one of the following:
December 17 performance gallery.
December 16 dress rehearsal gallery.
December 15 dress rehearsal gallery.

If you would like to order prints, the online cart is available for ordering. However, these are three separate galleries so if you order prints from all three galleries, you would have to place an order in each gallery separately. If you place multiple gallery orders in the same day, you can choose only one shipping fee and I will combine them together.

Here are some highlights of the performances.

This isn’t the first time I’ve photographed Nicholas. But this time Nicholas has a new sister, Chloe. Like Nicholas, the two of them are probably the most photographed kids I know. Rarely does a day go by that I don’t see one of their new pictures on facebook. Here are a few highlights from a recent shoot.

I first met Amanda a year ago when I photographed headshots for the Sawnee Ballet Theatre. Most recently, I blogged about her for this upcoming performance season. Today, I was able to photograph her outdoors to a nearby park. She’s so wonderful to work with, always able to give me a smile. Here are some highlights of the session.

It’s time again for the annual Traveler’s MS Challenge at Alpharetta Athletic Club. In past years, Travelers was able to raise a good amount of money for the National MS Society – Georgia Chapter. This year, they raised $50,000.

The event was held on a beautiful fall day. This is in much contrast to the September flooding that Atlanta had and the continued rain on the days leading up to it.

It’s another season for the Sawnee Ballet Theatre and the Sawnee School of Ballet. For this season, we have some returning and some new dancers to the Company. You many recognize the returning Company dancers from last season’s headshots. Look out for their upcoming Nutcracker performance in December. Click here for a look at last season’s Nutcracker performance.

Last year, I met Annika for the first time. She was shy, quiet, but sweet and did I say quiet? Maybe that’s because she takes her lessons seriously. She was taught not to speak to strangers and that’s what I am. Fortunately, the lesson didn’t prevent smiling to strangers.

And here are her parents.
